How we make our furniture.
At Portico we make our furniture the same way it was made over a hundred years ago.
Using the same techniques such as
-8- WAY HAND TIED SPRINGS
-GLUED-DOWELED JOINTS AND FRAME CONSTRUCTION
Construction also includes :
-CONSTRUCTION GRADE STAPLES
-WOOD SCREWS
These methods and techniques are all standard with our furniture.
8 WAY HAND TIED SPRINGS
HARDWOOD
All of our pieces are made with high quality hardwood.
For Fully upholstered pieces we use 5/4 Alder wood for the frame construction.
For any exposed wood furniture we can use Red and white oak , walnut , ebony, maple and most any other hardwood per request.
Pieces that have any substantial curves or special radius we use both high grade plywood and hardwood , never just ply.
*Although plywood is a great material to use in certain aspects of furniture , we stand by using hardwood for quality high end furniture made to last.
HR FOAM
HR STANDS FOR HIGH RESILIENCE
We use HR Upholstery grade Foam . Which is standard for high end furnishings
